Description
xCrisp, pure-white cone blooms from midsummer into fall on a tough, reliable panicle hydrangea that thrives in cold winters and full sun alike.
White Wedding Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata ‘LeeP1’) is a panicle hydrangea grown for its full, upright clusters of clean white florets that open in summer and hold their color for weeks. The large conical panicles stand boldly above deep green foliage on strong, well-branched stems that resist flopping. Unlike the moody bigleaf hydrangeas, this is a sun-loving, new-wood bloomer that flowers dependably every year regardless of winter cold — reaching a tidy, rounded 4 to 6 feet tall and wide that suits both small yards and bigger borders.
Why growers choose White Wedding Hydrangea
- Dependable bloom every year. It flowers on new wood, so late frosts and harsh winters never erase the show the way they can with old-wood types.
- Clean, lasting white. Crisp white panicles open in midsummer and age gracefully, often picking up soft blush tones as the season cools.
- Cold-hardy and sun-tough. Comfortable in USDA zones 4–9 and happy in full to part sun, it handles climates where many hydrangeas struggle.
- Strong, self-supporting stems. Sturdy branching holds the heavy flower heads upright instead of bending to the ground after rain.
- Pollinator-friendly and easy. The fertile florets draw bees and butterflies, and the plant’s vigorous, low-fuss habit makes it forgiving for newer gardeners.
Use it as a flowering hedge or privacy screen, anchor a foundation planting, set a row along a fence, or let a single specimen carry a mixed border. The long-lasting blooms are also superb for fresh and dried cut arrangements in a cutting garden.
