Description
xA fast-growing, naturally narrow evergreen column that delivers a dense, dark-green privacy screen without ever needing much pruning.
Spartan Juniper (Juniperus chinensis 'Spartan') is a tightly columnar conifer prized for its rich, deep-green scale-like foliage and crisp, formal silhouette. It grows fast, reaching 15 to 20 feet tall while staying just 3 to 5 feet wide, so it stacks vertical green into a slim footprint. That combination makes it one of the most reliable choices for narrow privacy screens, property-line borders, and tight side yards where a wider evergreen simply won't fit.
Why growers choose the Spartan Juniper
- Fast, dense screening. A fast growth rate and naturally full branching mean it fills in quickly and stays solid from the ground up.
- Narrow, space-saving habit. At only 3 to 5 feet wide, it gives you height and privacy without crowding walkways, fences, or foundations.
- Year-round evergreen color. The dark-green foliage holds its color through winter, so the screen never thins or drops out.
- Deer and drought tolerant. Like most junipers, it is largely passed over by deer and shrugs off heat and dry spells once established.
- Low maintenance and adaptable. It keeps its tidy column on its own and tolerates a wide range of soils and exposures across zones 5 to 9.
Plant a single specimen as a vertical accent beside an entry or in a container, or set several in a row for a clean, formal privacy hedge, windbreak, or evergreen screen along a property line.
