Description
xA neat, upright column of soft green that holds its color all year and forms a clean privacy wall without sprawling into your yard.
Emerald Green Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Emerald Green') is a classic narrow evergreen prized for its tidy, naturally pyramidal-to-columnar habit and flat sprays of bright emerald foliage that stay rich through winter instead of bronzing badly like many arborvitae. It grows at a moderate, predictable rate to a mature height of 10-15 ft. with a width of 8-15 ft., making it one of the most dependable choices for a uniform, low-fuss privacy screen, a foundation accent, or a row of matching sentinels flanking an entry. Because the form is upright and orderly, it fits tight spots where wider evergreens would crowd a walkway or property line.
Why growers choose the Emerald Green Arborvitae
- Year-round screen. Dense, soft sprays stay green from the ground up, giving you privacy in every season, not just summer.
- Tidy, upright habit. The narrow, pyramidal column needs little shaping and keeps a consistent look down a long row, which is why it is a go-to for formal hedges.
- Reliable winter color. Holds its emerald tone far better through cold than older arborvitae types that turn dull brown.
- Cold-hardy and adaptable. Thrives across USDA zones 3-8 and shrugs off harsh northern winters once established.
- Low maintenance. Moderate, even growth and a self-keeping shape mean minimal pruning to look polished.
Plant a single specimen as a vertical accent, set a pair to frame a doorway, or space several in a row to build a living privacy hedge or windbreak along a fence line or property edge.
