A pencil-thin column of steely blue-green that screens out the neighbors without stealing your yard.

The Blue Arrow Juniper (Juniperus scopulorum 'Blue Arrow') is a strikingly narrow, upright evergreen with tight, soft blue-green foliage held in a true vertical column. It grows at a moderate pace to a mature 12 to 15 feet tall while staying just 2 to 3 feet wide, so it delivers serious height and privacy in a footprint most evergreens can't match. That slim, architectural habit makes it a favorite for tight side yards, narrow planting strips, and modern landscapes where a wider conifer simply won't fit.

Why growers choose the Blue Arrow Juniper

  • Truly narrow footprint. At only 2 to 3 feet wide, it screens vertical space along fences, property lines, and between windows without crowding walkways or beds.
  • Year-round blue color. The dense, scale-like foliage holds its silvery blue-green tone through every season, including the depths of winter when most yards go gray.
  • Tough and adaptable. A Rocky Mountain juniper at heart, it shrugs off heat, drought once established, poor soils, and is reliably cold-hardy through Zone 4.
  • More deer-resistant than arborvitae. Junipers carry aromatic, prickly foliage that browsing deer typically pass over, making this a smarter privacy choice in deer country.
  • Low maintenance. Its naturally tidy, self-supporting column needs little to no pruning to keep its shape.

Plant a single specimen as a vertical accent or by a doorway, or set several in a row to build a slim, living privacy screen or windbreak along a fence line or property edge.
