Antennaria neglecta, commonly known as Prairie Pussytoes, is a hardy, low-growing native perennial valued for its soft, silvery foliage and charming early-season blooms. This species spreads gradually to form a dense groundcover, making it ideal for prairie restorations, dry meadows, rock gardens, and naturalized landscapes.
Prairie Pussytoes is especially important ecologically as a larval host plant for the American Painted Lady butterfly, while also supporting a variety of native pollinators. Once established, it is drought tolerant, deer resistant, and well adapted to poor or sandy soils.
This plant prefers full sun and well-drained soil and is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking low-maintenance native plants with high wildlife value.
