  • Usually grown as annuals, the short-lived tender perennials (Zones 7-10) in the Sonnet Mix Snapdragon offer spring to fall interest, typically blooming until first frost. Vibrant tubular, two-lipped flowers arise in a harmonious blend of white, yellow, pink, and rose hues.
  • Borne on long, stout stalks, the fragrant flower spikes attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and pollinators of all types, and they make excellent cuts for bouquets and floral arrangements.
  • The medium-tall plants in the Sonnet Mix Snapdragon have a neat, bushy, upright habit of lance-shaped, glossy dark green leaves. Shown to best effect when massed or grouped, they work well in beds and borders and are especially nice as the thriller (focal point) in large garden containers.
  • Snapdragons have strong root systems and prefer full sun and organically rich, moist, well-drained soil. Although snapdragons are low maintenance, pinching off the tops of established plants results in bushier plants with a heavier bloom, and deadheading regularly encourages and prolongs flowering.
  • Direct sow snapdragon seed after the last frost as soon in spring while the soil is still cool, or start seeds indoors 6 to 10 weeks before the last frost and transplant after all threat of frost has passed.

It's going to be another beautiful spring in your garden! We are delighted to celebrate 150 years of gardening friendship with you! "Your success and pleasure are more to Park than your money." The motto of our founder, George W. Park, has been the inspiration for Park Seed Company ever since its 1868 founding at the kitchen table of a 15-year-old boy who hoped to sell seeds from his own garden for a little pocket money. Mr. Park considered gardening a spiritual delight as well as a useful and pleasant activity. In early catalogs, he encouraged gardeners to form clubs and swap seeds, even printing nature poetry they had written. His catalogs united gardeners in remote rural areas, and by 1918, Park Seed Company had 180,000 customers. Today our gardeners number in the millions, yet we still adhere to Mr. Park's original motto. We may be connecting online through social media rather than handwritten letters, but the spirit and the result is the same: bringing the joys of gardening to as many people as possible.
